Sharp's Brewery – Big Feastival

Trinity Set & Stage built Sharp’s Brewery’s Doom Bar beach bar, secret tasting crate and marquee for The Big Feastival at Alex James’ farm — a UK festival bespoke bar build by a London set builder.

The Brief

Sharp’s Brewery briefed Trinity Set & Stage to return as their festival set builder for The Big Feastival 2018 — the food, family and music festival hosted by Alex James and Jamie Oliver on Alex James’ Oxfordshire farm. The brand needed to recreate the iconic Doom Bar beach bar at festival scale, alongside the Trinity-built ‘secret tasting crate’ first developed for an earlier Sharp’s activation. The brief: bring the seaside vibe of Cornwall to the heart of Oxfordshire, sell well across the festival weekend, and give Sharp’s a hospitality footprint that competed with the headline acts — in our third year working on this festival.

Our Approach

Trinity Set & Stage approached the Big Feastival activation as a transportable seaside takeover dropped into the festival site. We rebuilt the Sharp’s Doom Bar beach bar that we had developed with the brand in previous years, refreshed for the 2018 weekend, and brought back the iconic secret tasting crate — the wooden shipping-crate-style structure that opens into an intimate beer and food tasting room. We added a marquee, tonnes of imported sand, beach dressing and a fully serviced bar serving Sharp’s range on tap, dialled to handle weekend-long festival trade. As a London set builder used to festival brand activations and bespoke bars in the field, we engineered everything for a slick build-up, weekend operation and clean strike from a working farm site.
